The Foot of the Cross

The Foot of the Cross

When the choices overwhelm, and my mind seems to freeze

I'm reminded to spend an hour on my knees

And kneel at the foot of the cross.

When fear sneaks in and disturbs my peace

He calls me gently to the place of release

And I rest at the foot of the cross

When at the end of the day I feel worn and weary

There is only one place where I can think clearly

There's no confusion at the foot of the cross

When I struggle with a stronghold time and again

Before I look to the wisdom of a friend

Have I gone to the foot of the cross?

When I can't figure out which way to go

There is One who already sees and knows

I'll find direction at the foot of the cross

He'll see through the lies I tell myself

He'll always hear my honest cries for help

As I humbly kneel at the foot of the cross

When the hurt has continued and feels like too much

Whose garment did the woman in the crowd reach to touch?

There's healing at the foot of the cross

When the plans I made seem to run out of time

Out of the darkness of self-pity He helps me climb

I can lay my plans at the foot of the cross

When people leave that I never thought would

He sees, He knows, and reminds me He is good

There's comfort at the foot of the cross

When the news shows a world broken with sin

He reminds me of the hope I find in Him

He restores my joy at the foot of the cross

When my past accuses and I feel ashamed

There is a place I am loved where He'll call me by name

I'm forgiven at the foot of the cross

When the world forgets to defend those who can't fight

And I feel unequipped to stand up for what is right

I'll find strength at the foot of the cross

When a prayer is answered as they so often are

Do I first run to Him? He is never far

There's thanksgiving at the foot of the cross

In this world we know there will be suffering and pain

But it has already been defeated in Jesus name

There is victory at the foot of the cross
